The Art Appreciation group undertakes visits to a variety of galleries, exhibitions and studios on an ad hoc basis. We usually start or end the trip with a coffee together and where possible arrange for an art guide to help enhance our understanding during visits. The group has a large membership of 60, but visits attract a smaller number, perhaps 8 to 15.
We had 5 trips between September 2022 and May 2023:
- Barbara Hepworth - Modern 2, Edinburgh
- National Treasure (Scottish Modern Arts Association) - City Art Centre, Edinburgh
- A Taste for Impressionism - National Gallery, Edinburgh
- Knitwear: Chanel to Westwood - Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh
- Mansfield Traquair Centre, Edinburgh
Whilst these were all in Edinburgh, this is entirely coincidental and will not always be the case.
We plan to continue visits in Summer 2023:
- the Hunterian Museum and Mackintosh House, Glasgow
- Stirling Smith Museum and Gallery, Stirling
- Kaffe Fassett - the Power of Pattern, Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh
