We undertake short leisurely walks in the countryside, with time to admire the scenery, look at the flora and fauna, or just enjoy good company in the open air. Our walks take place in the morning and cover a maximum distance of 3 miles. A similar walking group, Nature Strolls 2, meets on a different day in the four-week schedule.
Our 2022-3 season was curtailed by bad weather, with 3 walks cancelled due to a combination of heavy rain, snow and ice. On better days we visited Kinclaven Wood, Braco Castle estate, Auchterarder, Newburgh and Bertha Loch. Highlights were red kites and hares at Braco and a marsh harrier over the reedbeds across the Tay from Newburgh.
So far this season we have visited Scone Den and the Coronation Road and had a visit to Tayport where a rising tide produced a host of ducks and waders, including wigeon, redshank, godwits, sanderling, oystercatchers & cormorants. Our most recent outings have been through Meikleour Woods to the Cleaven Dyke, around the parks and bridges of Perth and to Buckie Braes and the Craigie Community Woodland.
