We aim to provide day walks ranging in length from about 6 to 10 miles in a variety of terrains, and to set some small challenges to fitness, whilst not aspiring to the 'bagging' of Munros or attempting steep climbs. We enjoy taking the opportunity to get to know each other in a sociable way – with visits to places of refreshment if feasible.
The group has maintained its numbers – with a total on roll varying from 52 to 56 and an average 'turnout' in the mid-20s. It has been particularly pleasing that we have this year had an influx of folk 'moving up' from the Viewpoint Group and clearly fitting in very well.
We continue to benefit from the expertise and enthusiasm of those members who are able to take us to new places, so that we have not needed to 'fall back' on well-known routes. A very enjoyable event was the repeat of what is becoming the tradition of a meal together after the January outing – on this occasion brilliantly organised by Moira McKerracher. We look forward to venturing a little further afield in the months of summer.
