We cater for those who enjoy the challenge of the outdoors with the views and forays into hinterlands less frequented. We choose routes depending very much on the wishes and interests of group members, and planning is flexible to encompass the vagaries of the Scottish weather.
The group currently has 13 members and was able to run a full programme of walks over the year on a 4-week schedule in the winter and 3-week schedule over the summer. Between April 2019 to March 2020 we had 15 excursions plus a 4-day trip to Torridon. We have on average had around 8-10 members walking each time and have been able to keep to the planned Monday, with one exception when Storm Ciara forced us to move the walk to the following Thursday. Our walks are planned very much on weather conditions and the venue is only fixed a day or so before. Our walks are generally Munros in the summer with Corbetts or Grahams in the Winter. We tend to favour the western hills when weather is good and then move to the Angus hills when the weather is less favourable. We would expect to cover around 10 12 miles with perhaps some 3,000 feet of climbing.
The Torridon excursion proved a great success, with the group collectively climbing Beinn Alligin, Ben Damph and Beinn Eighe in good conditions, accommodation being based at the excellent hostel.
