We read a range of plays: classical and modern, tragedy, comedy and farce. Most of us read ahead beforehand, with dictionaries and, after reading round the group, we discuss both the content and the language of the plays.
During the 2019-20 session we read the following plays:
Le Jeu de l'amour et de Hasard by Marivaux, a comedy written in the 18th century
Le voyage de Monsieur Perrichon by Eugene Labiche, another comedy written in the 19th century
We are now part way through Lorenzaccio by Alfred de Musset, an historical drama written in the late 19th century
