Two Mile Walking Group
The two-mile walkers held a meeting this week to discuss how they wished to go forward after covid.
The group confirmed the name as TWO MILE WALKERS and decided to reduce the maximum number to 25 people and keep the distance to circa 2 miles travelling no more than half an hour to each walk. Car sharing would be introduced when people were comfortable to do so again.
It was agreed that members would start to assist by arranging some of the walks but the administration and distribution of risk assessments would be done by Sally or, in her absence, Edwina. The group will consider splitting into two groups on occasions if the body of walkers becomes too strung out.
Aims and Objectives of the group:
To do a walk of approx 2 miles in the local area.
Any expertise needed:
Level of fitness appropriate for a two mile walk with some inclines. Members may be asked to organise a walk.
Equipment needed (rough costs if any):
Proper shoes/boots suitable for a two mile walk, walking stick (optional), waterproof jacket and trousers.
Maximum number permitted in the group: 25
Location, day and time of meetings: We meet at the start point of the walk for that day and the most usual time is 9.45. for a 10.o'clock start. Walks take place on the Second & Fourth Thursday of the month.
A brief description of a typical meeting:
The walks are of about 2 miles and last approximately 1 Hr. The locations cover a fairly wide area but aim to start within a 30 minute drive of Dunstable. The pace is not too fast. The terrain is variable with some inclines but not too taxing.
