Jazz Appreciation

Aims and Objectives of the group:
To learn and understand about jazz and its inception by listening to jazz on records, CDs, memory sticks and DVDs. It is mainly Mainstream, Modernist, Big Band/Small groups and individual soloists with the occasional Traditional/Dixieland groups to understand how it all started
Any expertise needed: None, but an appreciation of jazz and a good interest in this type of music
Equipment needed (rough costs if any): All supplied by the leader. No costs
A member might want to purchase their own records, CDs, DVDs, or memory sticks to download music from the internet.
Maximum number permitted in the group: 6 including the leader,
Location, day and time of meetings: Leader's home on the 4th Tuesday afternoon of each month from 2 pm to 4 pm.
A brief description of a typical meeting:
Each member to bring either records, CDs memory sticks or DVDs for all to listen to and give a short explanation of the music, who the group are, soloists, arrangers, date recordings made and venue and a reason why they have made this choice.
The leader will try to set an artist or instrument to be listened to for the first part of the session each month.
There is a short break after about 1 hour for coffee/tea and biscuits
