Digital Photography 1
Leader/Coordinator: | John C |
Aims and Objectives of the group:
To learn from each other how to improve our photography and present our photographs to greatest advantage, giving consideration to composition, lighting, exposure, etc.
To understand how to edit photographs using software to improve quality and impact.
Expertise needed:
Members should be enthusiastic about photography, computer literate and be able to send and receive emails with attachments
Equipment needed:
Digital camera, computer, printer and suitable software to enable photos to be edited, cropped, resized, etc. A television of reasonable size with HDMI and/or USB connectivity is an advantage, but not essential.
Maximum number permitted in the group: 8
Members must be able to accommodate the group about once a year in their own home for the monthly meeting. These take place at 2.00pm on the third Thursday of the month. Members hosting the meeting undertake to provide tea or coffee, and cake and/or biscuits.
A brief description of a typical meeting:
Each month we have a project on a specific theme. The themes are decided at the beginning of the year to allow plenty of time for members to create their photographic masterpieces! Each member sends six photos to the group leader in advance of the meeting, and these will be displayed either on the television or via a projector and screen.
Attendees are invited to comment on each of the photos, highlighting the good points and making constructive suggestions as to how they could be improved.
Some months a presentation is shown on some aspect of photography that may be of interest, or relevant to a future project. There are opportunities to discuss future projects, possibly pooling ideas.
After the meeting, the photographs are made available for viewing via the Members Page of the Dunstable U3A web-site.
Once or twice a year we do not have a home meeting but have a photographic shoot at an agreed location, with the photographs taken being viewed at the following meeting.
