Aims and Objectives of the group:
To provide a series of meetings (10) per annum (no meeting August or December) that will interest and educate members in the techniques of using a PC, tablet or smartphone. Each session is used to extend the specific knowledge of participants.
Any expertise needed:
Basic knowledge of computer usage, plus an awareness of computer terminology. Subject matter primarily focussed on Microsoft Windows, but general principles will also be applicable to other systems (Apple, Linux, Android)
Equipment needed:
No equipment needed, but it makes sense if you have a computer at home available to you
Maximum number permitted in the group: 30
Location, day and time of meetings:
The Square Methodist Church, Epworth hall. Third Wednesday of the month (except August and December), 1:45 - 3:45 pm.
A brief description of a typical meeting:
A presentation of one or more subjects, which may include demonstration followed by tea/coffee break. Then further discussions of the topic presented and/or topics raised by the members. Where members have specific problems, these can also be discussed, and hopefully resolved.
Previous topics have included: Online safety, Backups, Understanding your system performance, Mail Merge, Adding pictures to documents, Excel introduction, simple programming in "Scratch", and graphics in both Paint.Net and PowerPoint
