After registration the session begins with a waltz; the teacher refreshes the steps and the music begins. The dance usually goes on through 3 or 4 songs before moving on to the next dance, e.g. Cha Cha.
Alan, with the help of others shows new moves, and revisits previously learnt steps and skills and adds special moves and turns as and when needed. Half way through there is a break for tea or coffee and biscuits.
