Recorder Consort
Coordinator: | Penny T |
Aims and Objectives of group:
Playing for pleasure and in so doing hoping to improve our ensemble skills. We play music written or arranged for recorders usually in four parts. Descant, treble, tenor bass and great bass. Composers may be anywhere from 15th to 21st centuries.
Any expertise needed:
To be able to sight read music on one size of recorder.
Equipment needed:
Recorder(s) and music stand. The group already owns much music, and new pieces are bought with the group's funds. Copies are given out to members for home practice purposes.
Maximum number in group:
12, but would be possible to accommodate more in future if required.
Location, day and time of meetings:
Currently in Edlesborough Methodist Church LU6 2HS. 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, 10am - 12.30.
Brief description of a typical meeting:
We begin playing soon after 10 AM and finish at about 12.30. We rehearse a few pieces and we have a very leisurely and sociable coffee break in the middle. We have performed in concerts and at u3a events.
