Aims and Objectives of group:
Playing for pleasure and in so doing hoping to improve our ensemble skills. We play music written or arranged for recorders usually in four parts. Descant, treble, tenor and bass… Composers may be anywhere from 15th to 21st centuries.
Any expertise needed:
Yes. Ability to read music and play at least one size of recorder to an intermediate level.
Recorder(s) and music stand. The group already owns much music, and new pieces are bought with the group's funds. Copies are given out to members for home practice purposes.
Maximum number in group:
12, but would be possible to accommodate more in future if required.
Location, day and time of meetings:
Currently in members homes in the Dunstable area, 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month,10am - 1pm.
Brief description of a typical meeting:
We begin playing at about 10.15am and finish at about 12.45pm. Nell (ex music teacher) conducts and rehearses certain pieces, and we have a very leisurely and sociable coffee break in the middle. We perform an annual concert in aid of charity, and occasionally take part in U3A events.
