Warrington

Egyptology

Group Leader Ian Lancaster

The aim of this group is to develop members’ interests in the incredible culture of Ancient Egypt through illustrated talks, videos, discussions, objects, and museum visits.

The group now meets at Winmarleigh House in Warrington (Winmarleigh Street, WA1 1NB ̶ where the monthly General Meetings and the Annual General Meeting are held) on the fourth Monday of the month, starting at 1.30. Refreshments are available.

In the October meeting we had a guest speaker from the University of Manchester Museum and this will be followed in November (Monday 25th November) by a visit to the Museum to examine some of the materials not usually put on display. Spaces are limited for this visit.

There will be no meeting in December (due to proximity to Christmas). The next meeting will be Monday 27th January when we will continue to discuss the early history of Egypt, especially the Early Dynastic and Old Kingdom.
