Our motto: "Together we make a good sound"
Our Ukulele Group meet fortnightly on a Thursday afternoon 1.30pm - 3.30pm in Winmarleigh House, Winmarleigh Street, WA1 1NB. Opposite the Town Hall Golden Gates. All our dates are shown in our Dates subpage.
Ukulele group is run like a jam session. We get together on alternate Thursday afternoon and play and sing a selection of well known songs. It is a fun afternoon and you can forget your worries for two hours and go home smiling. The group is very large so it's a great way to play along whilst you're learning to play your ukulele and there's lots of friendly people to help you. However if you are a complete beginner then the "Learning the Ukulele" group will be the place to start.
We also have a monthly working group playing the Blues which is proving to be very successful. One of our members commented: "Another great session and one that inspires me with achievable challenges" The Blues is a new way of playing the chords that we already know and everyone is able to take part and enjoy their new found skills. Further information can be viewed in the Blues News sub-page.
Our Moving On Group is where members have progressed to very high levels of ukulele playing competence. Testament to this is that it is members of our Moving On Group who are now leading our working groups and sharing their knowledge in the spirit of U3A. You'll see a Moving On Group sub-page too.
So there's lots going on and a warm welcome awaits you if you want to give us a try.
