Poetry

The Group Leader is Roy Smith

The Poetry Group meet on alternate Thursdays (even weeks) at 10:30 a.m. in the lounge at Bold Street Church. (from Bold St. through the second back entrance - not the cafe entrance - to the 2nd floor, (there is a lift) through the double doors then the room on your right).

We are a friendly group where newcomers can expect a warm welcome. At each session we have a different theme or subject. Over the past few months we have read and discussed poems written in many different styles and composition some of the themes explored were - Beginnings, Friendship, Humour, Seasons, Endings and even Crime. Reminding us of the values and morals of all mankind past and present, and also events from our own experience. Poets whose work we have considered were as varied as John Keats and Pam Eyres.

If you have ever liked poetry at all why not come along and visit us - listen and perhaps tell us what your poetic choice is. You will not be expected to write a poem yourself. If, however, you are talented in this way we would be delighted to hear them.
