About Warrington U3A

Warrington U3A is part of a UK-wide movement which brings together people in their ‘third age’ to develop their interests and continue their learning in a friendly and informal environment.

If you’re wondering what we mean by the third age, it is a time after you have finished working full-time or raising your family and have time to pursue your interests or just try something new.

It’s all voluntary. U3A members draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other but there are no qualifications to pass — it is just for pleasure. Learning is its own reward.

Warrington U3A has well over a thousand members and is home to over fifty activity groups covering all sorts of different subjects - from American History to Whist and everything in between. We are one of over 1,000 U3As across the UK, with thousands of interest groups between them and more than 400,000 members nationally.

On the first Wednesday of most months we meet at 2pm at Winmarleigh House, Winmarleigh Street, Warrington for our regular monthly General Meeting, enjoying a variety of interesting speakers, sharing a tea or coffee afterwards and catching up with our friends. New or prospective members are very welcome to attend this very sociable event, where they can meet the leaders of the various groups, and perhaps join any that interest them.

Our groups meet in or near the town centre wherever possible. Because of the range of our activities, some meet out of town but still, hopefully, with convenient parking and easy access by bus. There are so many activities and new friends to make that it can be difficult to choose which group to join. Meetings are free or sometimes have a nominal charge for speakers or materials. Whether you wish to learn a new subject, brush up on an existing interest or even consider forming your own interest group, Warrington U3A is for you.
