Art Appreciation

Group Leader is Fred Airey

The Art Appreciation Group meets at 2pm on the second Monday of the month in the Second Floor Lounge of the Methodist Building in Bold Street.

If you are interested in art in any shape or form, come along to our monthly meetings, where you will be made very welcome.

The meetings take the form of talks on an artist or movement by the members, or group participation on a variety of topics. In the past, members have brought examples of their art work and talked about them. However, we have become more and more reliant on the use of DVDs, which we can borrow from the U3A Resources Centre in London. We have started to make use of YouTube now that we have wifi installed in our meeting room.

We try to find outside speakers and have been fortunate to have had talks by Ian Barclay, formerly of Liverpool John Moores University, and Peter Fauset, formerly of Sheffield University.

In the past, we have made visits to the Walker Art Gallery and Sudley House in Liverpool as well as the Whitworth Art gallery in Manchester. This year, we are hoping to visit the Lady Lever Art Gallery at Port Sunlight.
