The Table Tennis group continues to flourish. Many of the founding members are still keen, and absences are normally due to ill health or holidays. Numbers attending each week range between 10 and 24 people. We have three tables so up to 12 people can play simultaneously. If there are more than that we take it in turns to sit out; on weeks when fewer members come we have the opportunity to play singles matches.
Please scroll down the page, to see a video of some of our members enjoying a game.
There is a wide range of ability within the group but we change partners and opponents after nearly every game, and for most of the time our games are friendly rather than fiercely competitive - the better players offer useful hints to the rest of us. Members have enjoyed some informal social lunches together.
New members are welcome - it's a good way to take a bit of exercise while having a laugh!
Unfortunately, at this present time there is a waiting list. Please enquire and ask Doug Wells (the group leader) to be added to the waiting list.
Scarecrow Festival: the local Methodist church where we play our games held a scarecrow festival in September 2016 to celebrate some recent redevelopment work, and any group using the church was invited to put a display together. Our table-tennis-playing scarecrows represent one of several married couples within our group, but we are not at liberty to say which!
