Book Group 1
Meeting Venue | Warlingham |
Meeting Time | 10 a.m. |
Meeting Day | First Wednesday of the month |
Members of the group continued to read and review books throughout the period when physical meetings were prohibited - initially by email and later over Zoom - but have now resumed face-to-face meetings. The books we discuss range widely in setting and style - follow the sidebar link to see brief descriptions of some we read earlier in 2022.
More recent titles are The Salt Path by Raynor Winn, Should We Stay or Should We Go? by Leonard Shriver, The Dig by John Preston, Women of Troy by Pat Barker, Mother's Boy by Patric Gale. Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo, Curtain Call by Anthony Quinn, The Promise by Damon Galgut The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett, Bournville by Jonathon Coe, Act of Oblivion by Robert Harris, Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie, Three Hours by Rosamund Lupton, Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver August by Gerard Woodward, The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad and A Town Like Solace by Mary Lawson. All of which gave rise to interesting discussions and in some cases further reading.
