There are currently two music appreciation groups running, both well-attended. For more information about either of the groups please send a message to the Groups Co-ordinator.
|When||Fortnightly, Thursday 2.30 p.m.|
Based in Caterham Valley with off-street parking and close to trains and buses, this long-running informal group now has vacancies for new members. The music programme of around one and half hours is chosen by members in turn, and usually consists of classical music, with occasional forays into jazz, folk music, etc. We are not musically erudite enough to analyse composition and structure, but we do enjoy investigating the background that prompted the composition of a particular work and have brief discussions on the subject.
So, if you enjoy music, do come and join us. We are a very friendly group with a refreshingly relaxed approach - in fact we are accompanied by a delightful Jack Russell and one or two of the cats, all of whom like to mingle with the guests, so pet lovers essential please.
|When||Fortnightly, Wednesday 10-12 a.m.|
|Where||Caterham on the Hill|
There is a limit of ten members for this group at present, as that is the maximum number of available seats. We listen to a programme of recorded music presented by each of our members in turn.
The music is mainly classical, but a little jazz and Gilbert and Sullivan creep in occasionally. Programmes may have a particular theme or be a selection of the presenter's favourite pieces.
