Study is by exchange of information about the use of digital cameras. The Group also shares and compare photographs. Regular photoshoots are undertaken, and the results compared in group meetings on a TV monitor. The objective of the Group is to enable members to utilise the full range of capabilities of a digital camera, rather than shooting in "Full auto" mode. We also discuss some aspects of photo editing to learn how to enhance our images. Some of the photographs taken by members are shown on this page.
Our membership comprises a good mix of skilled/experienced photographers and those who are keen to acquire more skills.
The group meets once a month on a Friday afternoon and undertakes a mix of activities:
- Technical sessions where we discuss topics relating to use of digital cameras, composition, and photo enhancement (post processing) using popular photo editing programs
- Review sessions where we meet to look at and critique pictures taken during group activities
- A regular challenge where participating members undertake to take pictures on a set subject and share it on Flickr, the objective is to encourage members to get out with their cameras taking photographs
Additional to the monthly meetings, the group undertakes photoshoots where the group visits selected locations to take pictures and assist each other with putting into practice techniques we have discussed. The pictures are shared on the Group’s Flickr pages (Flickr is a photo sharing website). These photoshoots usually take place between the monthly meetings and usually on a Friday.
