***** GROUP ACTIVITIES DURING THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN *****
- The inaugural meeting was on Wed 20May, using Zoom.
- A WhatsApp group has been created.
- The group leader posts an item every day about Japan on her Facebook page.
The group is led by a Japanese lady, and will initially meet two weekly on a Wednesday afternoon. We will learn some basic Japanese courtesy terms and forms of address. There will be a quiz arranged by the group leader about all things Japanese. We will study what is occurring in Japan in June, and have been given three words in Japanese which relate to June to research. This will be repeated for July and August. The intention is to learn some basic language as well as Japanese culture, art, dress and eating,
At their most recent meeting, the Group Leader arranged for a professional Ikebana teacher to give a Zoom demonstration on the art of Japanese flower arranging. Download the Ikebana video. The teacher was dressed in a traditional Japanese Kimono, which made the demonstration look even more authentic. If anyone is interested in learning more about Ikebana, they are welcome to contact Sachiko. Sachiko has her own website : https://www.kimonoandflowers.com/, & her personal email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
