|When||Weekly||Thursday 2 - 4 p.m.|
|Where||Queens Park Pavilion||Caterham on the Hill|
The Badminton Group is now well established and flourishing. The group meets for two hours at the Queens Park Pavilion from 2.00pm to 4.00pm on a Thursday. We have a range of players, ranging from complete beginners to reasonably experienced players. We are a very sociable group. If we have sufficient numbers, we will run a coaching session and are happy to take on complete beginners. However, the coaching sessions are run outside the usual playing time, and we do require a minimum of 4 people to run a coaching session.
There is a charge for playing, to cover the cost of hiring the hall and purchasing shuttles. More experienced players are welcome to play for 2 hours and pay accordingly as it will help the less experienced players to improve.
Members contribute between £1.50 and £2.50 for a session (depending on numbers), which covers the cost of the hall, net, and shuttles. We do have some spare racquets, so if anyone wants to give it a try, they do not have to commit to purchasing a racquet until they have decided that this is for them.
If you are interested in joining, contact the group leader - Roger Dale, via the pigeon post link at the top right of this page, or contact the Groups Co-ordinator. However, we should stress that this group is for Caterham U3A members only.
We must also stress that players should wear the appropriate footwear (training shoes or squash/tennis/badminton shoes) and trousers which are fitted at the ankle or track-suits. Shorts may of course be worn.
