Art
The class is full at the moment but there is a waiting list which I'd be happy to put you on if you contact me (see below)
We enjoy sketching, drawing, painting in watercolour, acrylics, gouache, water-based oils, pen & wash, charcoal and pastels.
We have NO TEACHER but get together to enjoy and keep up our hobby and help each other if advice is asked for so this class is not really suitable for complete beginners unless they are able to learn from books and Utube videos etc., at home.
The class is open from 10am - 1pm every Wednesday
at: St. Mary's Church Hall, Caterham on the Hill. CR3 5RA
The fees per 3 month term for 2024 are :
Weekly - 2hrs £20, 3hrs £25,
F/Nightly - 2hrs £10, 3hrs £15
Plus the subscription to U3A of course which is £12pa or £9pa if you belong to another u3a organisation.
Sometimes a still life is set up or we take it in turns to sit for 10 minute sketches for speed practice and occasionally a demo is arranged from outside - None of which are compulsory to join in.
We also have social get-togethers each term, for example a trip to Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking for lunch and then we go round their art gallery or we go to a local garden centre for light lunch. We organised lifts for these outings.
If you are an artist who never gets time at home to paint, come and join this friendly group. Refreshments are free and so is the WI-FI and the hall is bright and spacious. There is parking either by the church or the road opposite. (After class we do have to put away the tables, those of us who are physically able, and clear up, but this takes under 10 minutes).
Come for a trial day if you like. Bring your materials and paint or draw whatever you like. We also have a collection of books and painting magazines to look through for inspiration.
If this appeals to you, or you want to know more, please send a message to Sally
