After several months of meeting outside Uttoxeter the Singing for Pleasure Group is back in town and meeting at Wilfred House!
We have a small but very loyal membership, and are keen to attract new members. We meet immediately after the Open House on Wednesdays, from 11.15am to 12.00pm.
We hope that will be convenient for potential new members.
At most sessions we sing accompanied on the piano for some songs, and on the guitar for others. We occasionally sing along to audio tracks as well – this is something that we tried for the first time during the pandemic when our meetings had to be on Zoom.
Some members read music and others don't, and I provide musical scores or just lyrics, whichever is more appropriate at the time. It is not necessary to be able to read music to join the group. The style of music is varied, including some songs from the shows, some pop songs and some other miscellaneous pieces. However, we tend not to attempt more serious classical music.
Much of what we sing is in unison, but when we have a sufficient number of people present we sometimes sing in two parts.
You are welcome to come along for a taster session to see whether it is suitable for you. You can contact by clicking on the Blue Bird, or just turn up at Wilfred House at 11.15 on a Wednesday.
