The Ukulele group meet every Thursday at Wilfred House 2.15 to 3.45. Alternate weeks we have a development class, the aim of which is to provide more support to all types of player from beginner onwards. The other week is more ad hoc, to provide opportunity for one to one instruction and also for more advanced members to be experimental.
The Ukulele Group recently played for St Mary’s Mount ‘Mad Hatter Tea Party’ earlier this month. In addition we have played for St Mary’s Mount Daycare Centre, The Hermitage Residential Home, Kirk House Care Home as well as Sudbury WI over the last few months.
Since the last Bulletin went out the Ukulele Group have performed for the residents of Mellor Lodge retirement apartments, and have also appeared with The Heath Belles at Denstone Village Hall, and helped raise the sum of £610 to help keep Denstone Village Hall open.
They will also be entertaining the Doveridge Seniors group on Tuesday 12th November at 2:00 pm, followed by their first solo event at DoveridgeVillage Hall on Sunday 1st December commencing 7:00pm.
When we commence our regular sessions on Thursday 5th September we will also begin work on new material suitable for Care Homes so that we can continue to try and entertain the residents during the autumn and winter.
The group is open to all - No previous experience required! We also have a couple of instruments spare for people to try before committing themselves.
