We have arranged a conducted tour of this 13th century hall which is one of the best preserved manor houses in England. It has a history dating back to 1460 with an impressive great hall, original medieval kitchens and original brick built tower. The east and west ranges contain a myriad of rooms connected by a ghost corridor.
Following our morning visit there will be time for lunch either in the hall or in the nearby market town, with free time to further explore the town or to take a walk on the recently created riverside walkways.
The cost for this trip is £17, for English Heritage members the cost is £9.50, (please bring your card).
To be paid by 31st May at the latest. Please remember that your place is not assured until full payment is made.
To book or for any further information please see Maureen at coffee mornings or email Maureen Green by clicking on her name or telephone 01889 560122.

|Sat Oct 6th||Recorders||
Unbelievably, the time has come once again to open booking for the Uttoxeter U3A Recorder Playing Day on October 6th 2018.
As you will see, we have invited a different tutor this year. Ruth is someone that several of us have played with in previous years. We have enjoyed her company and her leadership and are very pleased that she has accepted our invitation. I hope she will bring music from various different publishers and arrangers so that you might learn more about the broad variety of music available to us as recorder players.
We have several new members of our own group here in Uttoxeter who hope to join us on October 6th, and I have received enquiries from several people who’ve come on previous occasions already. Remember that last year, our second Playing Day, we were fully booked within 2 weeks of opening booking. The limit of 50 places still applies. We will maintain a waiting list of people who are initially unlucky and provided there is somebody who can step into the breach we will refund money to anyone who books early and is subsequently unable to come.
If you need a reminder of where to send your cheque (payable to “Uttoxeter & District U3A” please email me by clicking on my name Brenda Welch and I’ll let you have my address.
I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
