|Dates for your Diary|
|Thu Jul 4th||Outing||STOKESAY CASTLE & LUDLOW|
We have arranged a trip on the above date, a Thursday, for a visit to Stokesay Castle, moving on afterwards to the delightful town of Ludlow.
Stokesay is the best-preserved fortified medieval manor house in England. With a great hall, unchanged for over 700 years, a 17th century timber framed gatehouse with characters carved in the timbers, plus a solar and two towers to explore. A climb to the top of the South tower will reward you with breath taking views of the Shropshire Hills.
Our visit will include a guided tour and there will be time for lunch at the tearoom or, weather permitting, there is plenty of outside seating for picnics.
Ludlow, sometimes called the most attractive town in England, is the location for the second part of our day. This historic town has much to interest the visitor including the remains of the castle dating from 1086.
Our visit coincides with a food and craft market for you to enjoy before we return.
The cost of this trip will be £19 or £12 for English Heritage Members (please bring your membership card).
We will leave from the side of Tesco, Uttoxeter at 8.30 am and will plan to return at approximately 6.00 pm
Places are limited so you are advised to book your place as quickly as possible with Maureen Green at our Wednesday coffee morning, by telephone at 01889 560122 or email by clicking on her name.
