We are postponing the celebrations for our 15th anniversary until the new year and relocating it to the Heath Community Centre.

We have had a good response from groups wanting to contribute and Wilfred House is too small to get everyone accommodated.

Thank you all for your support and ideas. We hope that with the extra time for preparation and the additional space in the refurbished Heath Community Centre we can put on an event of note.

We will set the new date when the bookings are made and advise you in good time.

Accounts Examiner required. We have grown over the years and are now approaching an income of £25,000 per annum from subs, £1 session donations and trips. This sum is a trigger point in the Charity Commission’s requirements for financial reporting. When we exceed £25,000 pa we must move from an “inexperienced” examiner to a “experienced” examiner. We don’t have to employ an independent professional until income reaches £250,000 pa. Member Ivor Kirby has undertaken the examination duty for a number of years and we agreed at the 2018 AGM that now is the time to look for a more qualified or experienced examiner to begin in 2019. If you worked in accounts, or perhaps have retired as an accountant, please consider undertaking this essential role. Treasurer Teresa Kinvig has the bookkeeping organised to present batches for examination on a rolling basis, so the work would be intermittent and organised to suit your free time. The Heath Community Centre update. Work is now underway and currently on time and to plan. The centre’s management team looks forward to welcoming displaced interest groups back to enjoy the remodelled facilities at the end of the year – exact dates will be announced when they are available.

Sudbury Hall
We have been asked to advise our members that the Hall will be opening for more days next year and will be looking for more volunteers. They will be holding a series of meetings etc., with more information. We will keep you informed.

At the end of May 2018, the UK regulations on personal data protection are being updated and there are a couple of things that we should bring to your notice. We hold and use personal information necessary to provide you with U3A services relevant to your membership. We have successfully done so for 15 years in a secure and confidential manner. We hold your name & address plus your email address and telephone numbers where you have elected to provide them and your optional election for gift aid. There will be no changes to this system except to make it clear that you have the right to see an extract of the information we hold and to opt in or out of email, telephone or postal communications [but not all]. We don’t hold, or propose to hold, any further information that is not necessary for your enjoyment of Uttoxeter & District U3A.

Occasionally pictures are taken at U3A group meetings, coffee mornings etc .Please make the taker aware if you do NOT wish to be included in the picture
