Building on the Africa Group's previous exploration of the history and development of the continent, we are now shifting our focus to look at the social and political issues facing today's Africa as portrayed in its literature and films, for example novels such as: ‘Things fall Apart’ by Chinua Achebe (1958) ‘The purple Hibiscus’ by Chimanda Ngozi Adichie (2012) and ‘Manchester Happened’ by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi (2019) and films such as:‘Queen of Katwe’ by Mira Nair (2016) ‘The Last Tree’ by Shola Amoo (2019) and ‘Lionheart’ by Genevieve Nnaji (2019).
