Croquet is a game played in teams on grass using six iron hoops and four wooden balls per team and a wooden centre peg. It can also be played as a single or double pair in a team. In singles the players play with two balls each. In doubles, it is one ball a piece. We play mainly Association croquet but also enjoy playing golf croquet rules.
Most of the new members started with no knowledge of the game, so the more experienced members give them lessons on how to play and explain the rules.
No special clothing is required, but we do ask members to wear flat footwear. All members share in the tasks of laying out the courts and putting the equipment away at the end of the session. Some members choose to buy their own mallet which can be purchased from the group at a cost of £45.
