Classic Pop and Rock Music
Do you think about those great songs from the 1960s through to the 1990s and would like to listen to them again with like-minded friends?
The group is for listening, discussing and reminiscing about the many genres of popular music that covers that period – think pop, soul, glam rock, prog rock, protest, electronic, punk, house and all the other types of music that we have heard.
Each month, a member chooses an album, an artist, a year or a genre as a focus for a meeting.
The first meeting was about The Beatles: each member chose 3 tracks to discuss/talk about and we also had discussions about their early years and by the lesser known songwriter, George Harrison.
The second meeting was about Singer/Songwriters.
This resulted in a wide variety of different tastes in music including Carole King, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Buddy Holly, Robbie Williams and Nick Drake.
We meet on the last Friday of each calendar month at 2pm and are always interested in getting new members.
