Architecture
During 2022 and 2023, the group met at Cruck House, Stowe Street. However, following an influx of requests to join the group, it was decided that the venue was too small and the group moved to the Life church, Netherstowe. We meet at 10:00 on the 4th Wednesday of the month.
In 2023 we covered a wide range of topics, including modern artistic additions to ancient buildings, aspects of the Arts and Crafts movement, the renovation of Notre Dame cathedral and many more, including 2 field visits, one to Sandfields pumping station and one to the Sir John Moore school, Appleby Magna. Many of our members also joined a guided tour of St Mary’s Abbey, Colwich.
In 2024, we have had presentations from members on buildings and architects that captured their interest. We will be looking at the future of cities and buildings for the second half of the year.
