Memory Courses

HOW MEMORY WORKS AND HOW YOU CAN HELP YOURS

Aims:
• To provide information about memory systems and reduce anxiety about memory problems
• To provide information about the types of memory loss
• To improve and maintain memory abilities and manage mild memory problems.

The course is designed to have a relaxed interactive approach, delivered over 4 weekly sessions of one and a half hours, with a tea/coffee break mid way.

Aims:

• To provide practical ways of helping to improve and maintain memory abilities and ways to manage mild memory problems.
Format:
• Brief presentation of information, followed by questions from group members.
• The course is designed to have a relaxed interactive approach.
Session 1
• Understanding your memory systems and processes.
• Ageist attitude to memory
Session 2
• Maintaining memory and preventing dementia.
• Diet, exercise, smoking and weight control
Session 3
• Managing memory problems
• Role of sleep and memory
Session 4
• Anxiety and its effect on memory
• Confidence in our memory
