History Group 1
History group 1 meets on the first Wednesday of the month for talks led by Martyn Hall of Tamworth U3A.The sessions take place at St Chads Church Hall ,The Leasowe, from 10 am until 12.
Napoleon Bonaparte, The Lunar Men, and Victorian Railway Travellers were just three of the topics covered in the course “Life and Times of…” (part 3) .Since March this year we have been asking “Who are the British?” looking at early times in our country and considering the influences of the Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans.
The two history groups meet at St Chad’s Church Hall, The Leasowe, on the first and second Wednesday mornings of the month. The lectures by Martyn Hall of Tamworth U3A, remain very popular for they are presented with informative, and often amusing, illustrations. The second group was formed to enable us to cater for the demand. New members are welcome to join the group 2 that meets on the second Wednesday, as group 1 is full. Both groups follow the same programme of lectures.
We were grateful to members of the group who used their skills to dress mannequins to represent each of the historic periods in the current course.
