The group meets on the first and third Tuesday at 2pm to 4pm every month at The Duke of York, Greenhill, Lichfield.
The folk musicians group was formed in January 2016. The Duke of York does not make a charge for use of its function room, but we encourage members to buy at least one drink in recognition of its hospitality.
Current membership stands at seventeen and the average number at the sessions is around 13. Due to the size of the practice room at the Duke of York we are limited as to how large the group can be and we are nearly at full capacity at the moment.
Members play a variety of instruments which include a flute, penny whistle, piano accordion, fiddles, melodeons (diatonic accordions), English and anglo concertinas, tenor and five string banjos, acoustic guitars, bass guitars bodhran and other percussion instruments. Musicians of all abilities are welcome in the group, including beginners and improvers and it is encouraging to quote one of our members who comments - “Differing levels of ability are encompassed and beginners, who take on a challenge like myself with the acoustic bass guitar, find it a supportive learning environment”.
