Climate Change
The purpose of the the Climate Change group is to inform our members about what the UK and the world needs to do, to stop the annual average increase in world air temperatures. The focus of the group is about the actions needed by both individuals, and our Government, to ensure that the UK will achieve net zero fossil carbon emissions by 2050, as well as assisting other countries to ensure that the average world temperature does not rise above 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
We will inform ourselves and discuss what we as individuals can do on three fronts:
- How to reduce the loss of energy from the dwellings that we live in, how we minimise the loss of energy as we move around and how we may capture fossil free energy from the sun, the air and the ground.
- How fossil free energy can be produced from sun, wind, hydro, geothermal, tidal and nuclear power.
- How we can influence local and national authorities to implement the necessary measures to start their process of fossil decarbonisation that will be completed before 2050.
We are currently meeting by Zoom every third Thursday each month, starting at 10:00.
