Walking
Contact Hazel on 07714 206450 and Kate on 07716 451707.
If you are interested in joining our walks, you need to be a walking group member, see us at the walking group table to sign up and sign a disclaimer.
We try to cater for all levels of fitness and offer the following types of walks:
Short Walk: Up to 5 miles
Medium Walk: 5-8 miles, flat & undulating
Long Walk: Over 8 miles
Strenuous: Less than 8 but more elevation
Full details of each walk will be available on the table approximately 3-4 weeks before the walk start date. The time and place for meeting up for walks are deliberately not given on the website.
Please Note: To sign up to any of the walks you must come to the walking table at the Wednesday Community Morning.
Most of the walks are limited in numbers and fill up quickly, so keep checking for new walks to avoid missing out.
When you sign up for a walk, please make a note of the leader's telephone number, for the walk you have signed up to, so that you can ring them if you need to cancel at the last minute. If you have a smart phone, take a photo of the sign up, then you know you have all the information you need.
No dogs are allowed on our walks, there is a separate dog walking group, and the details can be found on the Groups page of the website."
Walking should be enjoyable and healthy. For the majority of people, walking should not pose any problem or hazards. Participants must ensure that they understand their own capabilities and do not join a walk if they are unsure that their level of fitness will allow them to complete the walk. Participants should inform the walk leader of any health condition they feel the leader might need to know about.
Please make sure that you are equipped for the weather and conditions of the walk, with walking boots required for all walks. Please bring a snack and a drink and where indicated a packed lunch. It is important to keep hydrated on walks, particularly in the summer.
The Walking Group is currently asking for a one-off contribution of £2 from each walker to cover our costs.
The money will be collected at the Walks Table at the Wednesday Community Morning. It is a one-off contribution, not for each walk. Please make sure you have also signed a disclaimer.
The Walking Group is always looking to welcome new leaders for all levels of walks, we invite anyone interested in leading a walk to get in touch with us. Help & support will be given if required. There is a particular need for members willing to lead short walks. Many thanks & hoping to hear from you.
