Wood Carving
Contact BARRY 01704 231510
We meet on the second and fourth THURSDAY of each month from 9.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon at Croston Old School, Croston.
--------
We are a small group of dedicated amateur wood-carvers. Each carver has worked out what they would like to carve and with some encouragement of other members of the group, they have produced various different carvings. it is mostly work carried out by their own initiative but if help is required either to input of content or carving techniques then the rest of the group are there to offer their experience. We are a friendly group and we encourage others to join us (extra members are always made welcome). If you feel you would like to have a go why not drop in at one of our meetings and see what’s going on. Our group leader Barry Milne or any member of the group will make you welcome.
We recently set ourselves a project for each of our members to carve onto a piece of 8" x 8" x 1.75" limewood on the subject of Croston Village. These blocks were then mounted on a board and are now displayed on one of the walls In the hall. The top picture here on the right shows the board.
The inspiration for this project was that there are some wall hangings undertaken by the WI and the Quilting group already in the Hall to do with Croston Village and we thought it would be a nice idea for us to do something as well. We first obtained permission from the hall trustees before going ahead.
