Community Mornings
Every WEDNESDAY from 10.00 a.m. to 11.45 a.m. we hold a Community Morning in Mawdesley Village Hall for all our members. Prospective members can have a look round and join if they are interested. The Committee Members are there to advise or help with any questions or queries you may have. If they cannot answer the query personally they should be able to introduce you to someone who can help.
There is a designated table for the Walking Group where you can arrange to go on any of the numerous walks taking place. The Walking Group is very popular and it is necessary that you visit in person to book a walk if you are interested as this is the only method of joining a walk. There are short walks, medium walks and harder walks; also occasional strollers and strenuous walks.
Another popular table is for the Philharmonic Group where you can book to go to various performances of classical music at venues such as the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool.
You can also book for the many theatre visits, social outings, art trips, luncheon club, “Speaker's Corner" and occasional weekend events.
A Notice Board gives details of the groups that are available to join and information about some of the events taking place locally. There is also a projector and screen which gives information about various activities.
The interest groups occasionally present displays of their activities.
Like a good book or maybe do a jigsaw puzzle? The very popular book table offers the facility to buy or exchange your books and to borrow jigsaw puzzles.
Notices are announced every week giving details of new events, changes to current events and other information.
These meetings also provide an excellent opportunity for social interaction. Come and share a tea or coffee with old friends or make new ones. Refreshments are served until 11.40 a.m. for a nominal fee.
REQUEST FOR HELP
We depend on volunteer members to run the facility. We have a rota system for members who are willing to help with the coffee and tea area. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other members and make friends as well as being part of an essential u3a team of workers. If you feel you can help please contact Brenda on 01772 601363 or Irene on 01704 821909 or at the Community Morning.
As you can appreciate it takes a lot of setting up of tables and chairs and also a lot of dismantling each and every Community Morning. Please contact any member of the Committee at the Community Morning if you would be willing to help with this.
