Community Morning
Our Community Morning is held every Wednesday from 10.00 until 11.45 in Mawdesley Village Hall. This is a lively and bustling event which forms the backbone of our u3a. It gives all members the chance to get together over a coffee, to meet new friends or to consolidate friendships made on trips, on walks or in groups.
Members can sign up for walks, trips or a wide range of other activities. The Social Group, the Philharmonic and Opera Group, the Watercolour and Acrylics Painting Groups, the Luncheon Club, the Theatre Group and Speakers’ Corner all have tables where they promote the events they have planned. Others such as Geology and Archaeology sometimes have a table to showcase their latest plans and a range of pop-up courses are advertised from time to time.
There are various displays advertising the huge range of other activities available and we have a book table where you can buy or swop paperbacks.
Announcements and notices take place at 11am, when forthcoming events, new activities or last minute tickets are advertised.
We are always pleased to welcome new or potential new members on a Wednesday morning. A member of the Committee will show you round and explain things to you and you will have the opportunity to join on the day if you wish.
We are genuinely a friendly group of people! At the ‘Tea and Chat’ table you will always find a friendly face to welcome you, whether it is your first visit or your hundredth!
The u3a is about new friends, new challenges, as well as the enjoyment of friends and activities we already are familiar with. One way to get to know people is to volunteer for the refreshment table. Refreshments are served from 10.15 until approx 11.40. Set up starts around 9.20. The Community Morning depends entirely upon volunteers. If you would like to help with setting up or putting away tables and equipment, please speak to any member of the Committee and we would be very pleased to have you join the team.
Whether you are a long standing member, a new member or a potential member – please call in any Wednesday morning. We would be delighted to see you and you will be made very welcome.
