Cycle Group 1
Most of our group managed to continue cycling throughout lock-down, either solo or with a household partner. Once government restrictions allowed we divided into groups of six, starting at different times or from different locations. We share our experiences via a weekly blog so know what ‘the others’ are up to.
Last week ten of us went on a tour of the Cotswolds, again staying in two cycling groups with no more than six and obeying all the socialising requirements.
Read more about the Groups's trip to the Cotswolds and their future plans in the document "Cycle Group during Lockdown" accessible via the link on this page.
Our friendly cycle group meets every Friday. The group has grown in recent years and is very active. We are at present full (June 2020 - there is a limit to the size of groups on the road) but we welcome new members when we can. We are always willing to offer support to any enthusiastic new comer to set up an additional group. The pressure for places in the group means it is only possible to hold places on our mailing list for regular cyclists.
We are not an E bike group but recognise that with the ravages of time some of our established members may need to go down this route to maintain group cycling.
Our weekly rides vary from around 20 local miles to more challenging rides in terms of distance and terrain and always include the important refreshment stop.
Leaders of rides circulate details in advance in our weekly Blog and the programme is planned well ahead. While many rides start at Mawdesley Village Hall we frequently go further afield and often organise longer trips as part of our programme'
