Reading for Pleasure
|Meeting pattern||4th Thursday, 2pm|
Have you read books that you would recommend to others? If so, we are waiting for you to join us.
Following the departure of our founder/leader, Roland to live closer to his family, we are starting our third year. Each member nominates a book and generally starts off the discussion of it.
For this year the group has chosen Travel as its theme and includes fiction and non-fiction. In September we start with Flashman in the Great Game by George Macdonald Fraser. Passage to Juneau by Jonathan Raban follows; then The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce. Others to come include English Journey by J B Priestly. We have four more months to fill. Your choice could be included.
We are a friendly group, meeting monthly and sometimes the book is discussed over lunch in a local restaurant. Discussion is wide ranging, often far away from the book or its theme, but good-natured.
We have space for a couple of new members and dates for them to select a book. For further details click on the pigeon icon to contact us.
