Petanque 2 was set up last year (2018) in response to the call for a second group to make good use of our new terrains, designed, financed and set up by the hard work of John and Wendy. We meet on the first, third (and fifth) Thursdays of the month to enjoy two hours of friendly competition and fun, including a break for refreshing tea/coffee and cookies and time for some social chat.
For those new to the game, it involves pitching metal balls over a gravel area with the aim of getting them nearest to the 'cochonnet' (French for 'piglet')i.e. a small wooden ball. The few rules are easy for beginners to master and the game has a mix of skill and luck!
Do get in touch if you are interested in joining our friendly band. At £1 per session, with boules to borrow, friendly faces and refreshments at 50p, it's a steal!
The onset of Coronavirus disrupted our play for several months. However, following a risk assessment, we are now up and running again, playing a maximum of 6 to a piste. Socialising and refreshments are off the agenda but play is back with friendly competition, fun and laughter - all socially distanced and sanitised of course!
