Pétanque is a team game and is the best-known form of the French ‘boules’ (literally ‘balls’) family of games. It involves the rolling or pitching of hollow metal boules over a gravel playing area (or terrain) to rest as close as possible to a much smaller wooden target ball or jack (or cochonnet, literally ‘piglet’!) The basic game is fairly easy to pick up and has a nice levelling mix of skill and with some elements of ‘chance’ (luck even!)
We now have a full group again, so a waiting list is now operating for this group, so please contact me [via the carrier pigeon icon on this page] if you wish to sample the delights of Pétanque and have fun, it’s not taken too seriously ! We have a stock of spare boules that can be borrowed, if you do not have your own.
We meet all year, weather permitting, on Monday afternoons, starting at 2.00pm until about 4.00pm but excluding all Bank Holidays. Toilets are available and we normally have use of “the hospitality suite” and shelter. There is ample parking.
