Many will remember that a Theatre Group was successfully run some years ago by Liz L. This folded largely because the theatres couldn’t / wouldn’t hold the tickets for the length of time that members seemed to require to make their minds up as to whether they wanted to come. This group will seek to address this problem.
Philippa envisages organising four or so outings a year to matinees in the theatres at Bath, Bristol and possibly Salisbury. Travelling in a group of up to sixteen, we will be picked up in a Mendip Community Bus in the Coach park and driven straight to the theatre. The bus will meet us outside the theatre at the end of the performance and drive us back to Wells.
Philippa will organise a meetings in her house in central Wells to discuss which performances the group would like to visit over the next months. Depending on the numbers interested, costs can be calculated and members will be asked to pay up front by cheque. If people subsequently decide they can’t come, this will be sad but, unless handed on to another U3A member, it will not be possible to refund the ticket money.
