"Flashman in the Great Game" by George MacDonald Fraser
At the first new season's meeting of the Reading For Pleasure Group we reviewed "Flashman in the Great Game. This sort of book is sometimes called "Faction" when an imaginary figure is placed into real events, in this case the Indian Mutiny.
Flashman's sometimes shocking behaviour did not please everybody but on the whole the Group thought the book was well written and closely followed real events which of course reverberate to this day in terms of India's relationship with the UK Our discussion was enlivened by the presence of four nationalities, Welsh, Norwegian,The Netherlands and a few English !
