We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10.00am. The idea is a to look at the seasonal delights of nature. We would meet at agreed locations both in Northampton and surrounding country parks to walk around ending up in a cosy café. Showing an interest in the environment and sharing our combined knowledge whilst having a laugh or two.
June Although a wet wet June morning the Nature Group had an enjoyable morning at our amazing Abington Park, learning about its history and flora & fauna as we walked around. The Mulberry tree in the rest of our group photo came from a cutting of its parent growing in Shakespeare’s garden in Stratford Upon Avon. Many thanks to Jenny Gaskill for leading us through the Park’s long history from the Domesday book 1068 to date.
May Bright sunny morning at Summer Leys Nature Reserve in May with bright orange tip butterflies enjoying the warmth.
We observed and listened to many birds including:
Great crested grebe
Black headed gull
Green woodpecker (H)
Sedge warbler (H)
Reed warbler (H)
Garden warbler (H)
Willow warbler (H)
Long tailed tit (H)
Great tit (H)
