Country Dancing

Group Leader : John Green Tel: 01933 397767

Dancing group is taking a summer break till 11th September 2019.

This group, is devoted to English Country Dance.

The group meet weekly from 9.45 am-12 noon on Wednesday mornings at Weston Favell Parish Hall,(corner of Booth Lane South and Wellingborough Road).

It will focus on some of the dances which make up the incredibly rich tradition of English Country Dances recorded over the last four centuries.

The dances vary greatly in style and form but all have 3 things in common.

All are danced to beautiful music, virtually anyone take part with a little guidance and, most importantly, it is great fun.

We will also learn a little about the history and development of the dance through to the present day.

NEWS A small group did a display at the 2019 Picnic and pictures taken during it are shown on the right.

The Country Dancing group has room for more members. A wide variety of dances is covered from as early as the 17th century right up to the present day. We meet weekly, no previous experience is needed and it's suitable for people of all ages.

Northampton U3A Country Dance Group, invited members of other U3A groups in the area to join us for a dance in Nov 2013, click on this link to read a report on this happy event.
