This group is held monthly on the 4th Monday of the month at 2.00pm at a member’s home.
Topics for discussion are agreed and circulated in advance, so members can give some thought to these.
Each topic will be briefly introduced by a member of the group, to get the discussion going.
Topics range from serious to more light hearted and members can share views in a friendly atmosphere.

Moral Maze 1 - Discussion Group

The Group meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 10.15 am at the Leaders home in Weston Favell.
Unlike the radio programme, we’re probably not all experts in moral matters, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have an opinion or view on a particular subject. It doesn’t necessarily always have to be commenting on a current issue, such as the rights and wrongs of war for example, the “correction” of our history, the repercussions of the Covid lockdowns, but more a discussion on moral principles within the context of topics like:
- A Whistle Blowers Dilemma
- A Lottery winners conundrum
- is there a difference between a lie and a white lie to name just a few.
I have an interest in the philosophy of ethics and enjoy a debate where the participants’ views differ.

Ideas and Ideologies

We meet at the Group Leader’s home in Boothville on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 2.00pm.
At each meeting we look at one big idea that influences life today. Some will have been around for centuries, others will be new. Ideas could originate anywhere, for example, Politics (Socialism), Religion (Islamism), History (Imperialism), or modern concerns (nuclear power), the Arts (Romanticism) and so on.
A presentation will begin with a look at the life of a person closely associated with the idea and continue with an examination of it. Finally we discuss how relevant the idea is in 2023.
The Group Leader or members of the group will do presentations but no one is obliged to present.
