Wine Appreciation

WINE APPRECIATION 1

Leader: Jane Evans Tel: 01604 458120 /07784 766440

We meet on the 1st Friday of the month in members homes at 2.00pm.

Members take it in turn to host the meetings.
The Host supplies wines of their choice (normally 3-4 bottles) and some nibbles. The bottles are covered and on tasting we guess the grape, country of origin, etc. The host then reveals information about the wine and where bought and prices. Each member gives a fixed contribution towards the cost.

We are not connoisseurs , just enjoy trying different wines.

If you are interested or want further information, please contact Jane by phone or send her an email using the link on the right.

WINE APPRECIATION 2

Leader: Adrian Burch Tel:07857 620113

" May the four SSS be with you " (with apologies to Star Wars)

Although originally from London, I have lived in Northamptonshire for 50 years. My first 30 years were in Rushden and the last 20 in Northampton (St. Matthews Parade).

I am a retired medical practitioner with, apart from family, three " passions ". Naturally Wine is one of them, but also there is Music and Rugby (Come on You Saints).

I have been involved in Wine Education for about 30 years, initially as a student, but more latterly as an instructor. I have even passed some exams. My normal practice is to have a theme for each session. This enables me to not only introduce the six wines for tasting, but to give information about the theme. Audience participation is essential in having a good time! Glassware, etc., is all provided.

All participants will receive printed information about the wines which, over time should build into a reference pack for the future.

Swirl - Sniff - Slurp - Spit (or Swallow)

Meetings are held at 2pm in the Garden Room at St Matthews Parish Centre, The Drive, Northampton usually on the 1st Friday of the month, every 2 months. It is at the back of St Matthews Church and has its own car park - not very big but adequate for the WAGs with the entrance in the Drive near to the junction with Collingwood Road.

The tasting fee is currently £6.00 / session.

Please contact the leader for further information, by email using the link on the top right.
