Photography
Our Group
Our group is for people with an interest in developing their photography skills in a non competitive environment of mutual support. You will need a camera and an interest in photography and the ability to upload your photos to our Flickr site but otherwise all levels of skill (subject to a minimum level of ability detailed below) are welcome!
Our Meetings
We meet at 2pm on the first Thursday of every month at St John's Church Centre, Wickwar Rd, Chipping Sodbury.
Each month we set a topic for our photography and members then load their photos onto our Flickr site. We are then able to share the Flickr images via the large TV screen at the Church Hall and discuss and comment on members latest photos. Meetings usually last two hours. Future project topics are shown below.
Occasionally we have extra sessions and/or visits or specialist speakers. Further details will be added when these events are finalised. We are also hoping to have one or two speakers on specialist photographic topics over the next year.
New members
We ask that anyone who wishes to join has a minimum level of ability. With the best will in the world we are not able to offer instruction on basic things such as using email or provide anything useful to people without a digital camera!
Therefore to join the group the minimum required is for the potential member to:
a) Have a digital camera (mobile phone only does not qualify)
b) Have an email address they actively use
c) Be able to attach/upload documents (detail for uploading to Flickr would of course be provided)
d) Have hardware where they can store photographs (e.g., laptop, tablet etc and could be cloud based)
e) Be willing to use photo editing software to improve their photographs (this can be the free versions in IoS or Windows)
We charge a modest membership fee to cover the cost of room hire, software and other expenses. Please email us if you have any questions or need the latest Flickr upload instructions.
